Hidden among the rolling hills and winding roads of Maple Ridge lies a little slice of floral heaven known as The Rainbow Eggs Farm. The name alone sounds whimsical, and it completely lives up to that promise. At the foot of the property is a charming flower stand bursting with mason jars of colorful blooms freshly cut from the fields above, while a huge wrought-iron gate stretches between towering conifers, guarding the entrance to the farm’s winding uphill driveway. It’s here that Pascale greets me, her two dogs in tow.
Pascale, the vibrant soul behind the farm, is a Maple Ridge local, born and raised in the area. She’s since raised a family of her own and built her career here. Fifteen years ago, she and her husband bought this gorgeous property and began transforming it into the working farm it is today. It all started with a rainbow of chickens; Pascale once kept a large, colorful flock that laid lovely pastel eggs, the inspiration for the farm’s name. But that chapter came to a solemn halt several years ago when eight marauding bears tore through the neighborhood and decimated nearly every bird. The loss was so profound that Pascale decided she couldn’t go through that kind of heartbreak again so she shifted her focus away from the hens and encouraged the land to bloom in a new way.
Now, Pascale pours her passion into growing exquisite, seasonal flowers. Her floral workshops have become local favorites - especially her famous flower buffets, where guests pick from buckets of fresh-cut blooms to create their very own mason jar masterpieces.
I was invited to the farm to make what Pascale calls a “Jar of Happy” - and they really are happiness in a jar!
When I first arrived, we began with a grand tour of the first tier of the farm and its residents: a gaggle of goats, four llamas, and (of course) her two super-sweet pups. Her oldest dog, Doug (an absolute heart-stealer) became my instant friend, sticking to my side like a shadow and showering me with doggy love for the rest of the morning.
Next, Pascale walked me through her outdoor floral workshop area on the second tier of the property: a peaceful, grassy plateau anchored by the iconic turquoise open-air potting shed of social media fame. Long tables lined with an impressive display of color-coded blooms create the floral buffet, ready for arranging, while the flower beds themselves sprawl grandly from the tables out toward the distant property line.
As we perused the rows of flowers, Pascale guided me through her signature "Jar of Happy" design process with expert care and creativity. It begins with choosing a focal flower (the star of the show) and then building the bouquet around it using contrasting and complementary blooms. She explained the importance of adding intrigue and whimsy with textured greens and seed pods, and how plants with different scents can bring another sensory layer to the arrangement. Beside the potting shed, a carousel of containers brim with lush greenery and scented stems. There, she introduced me to something that smelled subtly of anise, elevating the entire bouquet. Every choice was intentional. Every stem told a story.
As the morning went on and my jar filled with flowers, I could also feel my heart filling with joy, peace, and inspiration.
After finishing my “Jar of Happy,” Pascale invited me to sit with her inside the goat and llama enclosure. These little fur angels are impossibly cute and clearly very well-loved—one of the llamas has even been allowed in the house! The smallest goat, Petunia, gave me full-on snuggles (yes, goat cuddles are real!), and I pretty much melted on the spot. All of Pascale’s animals are so incredibly gentle and sweet - it’s obvious they’re treated like true family here.
At The Rainbow Eggs Farm, it’s not just about flowers or animals; it’s about creating a space where people can reconnect with simple beauty, slow moments, and soulful creativity.
Thank you so much, Pascale, for inviting me into your world for a morning. Though I went to make a bouquet, I left with a “Jar of Happy,” new friends, and a very full heart.
